Carlsbad Desal Buyout Likely – Min Taxpayer Cost: $640 Million

When it comes to the future of desalinated water in California, San Diego County is facing a reality check. In agreements signed years ago, nine local water agencies brokered sweetheart deals with Poseidon Resources, an investor-owned Connecticut company that has been planning to build and operate a desalination plant in Carlsbad for the past 12 years.

The agreements guaranteed those nine agencies

    Disenfranchised HB Taxpayers:
    Remember dh Don Hansen the swing vote on Poseidon Resources vote stated that this project would not cost the taxpayers any money. Yes, you heard him and you know you can “trust” dh Don Hansen. Remember, Poseidon Resources has never built a desalination plant and the 2 contractors they personally selected to build the Tampa
    Bay facility went Bankrupt. Now has the Hansenites requested a Performance Bond and a Completion Bond from Poseidon Resources? No, I do not think so as that would protect the taxpayers and rate payers. Also, ask dh Don Hansen why Poseidon Resources cannot obtain financing for this project and dh Don Hansen works for a major Financial Leasing organization and knows how to peel a Financial Statement. Remember dh Don Hansen controls the majority of votes on the City Council so he must be held accountable whether he is seeking office of County Supervisor or is the next Mayor of HB.
